GeekVape Z Series Replacement Coils
The GeekVape Z Series coils are sub-ohm DTL replacement coils sold in packs of five, designed for GeekVape's range of Zeus sub-ohm tanks, the Z Fli tanks, and a number of Aegis Legend kits. Previously known as Zeus coils, the Z Series covers a wide range of resistances and three tiers of coil technology: the standard KA1 Kanthal mesh, the XM version for improved density and coil life, and the XM Boost version for around double the lifespan of the original.
All versions use a press-fit installation from the base of the tank, with no threading required. Every coil in the range is designed for direct-to-lung vaping at higher wattages and works best with high-VG shortfill e-liquid, ideally 70% VG or above.
Z Series Coils Key Features
- Pack of 5 replacement coils
- KA1 Kanthal mesh construction throughout the range
- Available in standard, XM, and XM Boost versions
- Z0.25Ω dual mesh coil, 45-57W
- Z0.4Ω (Z1) single mesh coil, 50-60W
- Z0.2Ω (Z2) single mesh coil, 70-80W
- Z0.15Ω single mesh coil, 80-90W
- Press-fit installation, no threading required
- XM Boost versions last approximately 50-60ml per coil
- Compatible with Zeus sub-ohm tanks, Z Fli tanks, and Aegis Legend kits

Z0.25Ω Dual Mesh Coil (45-57W)
The Z0.25Ω is a dual mesh coil, meaning it uses two mesh heating elements rather than one. This gives it a large surface area and a warm, dense vapour with strong flavour reproduction. Running at 45-57W, it sits between the Z0.4Ω and Z0.2Ω in terms of power draw, and suits vapers who want a substantial DTL vape without pushing into the highest wattage ranges. The dual coil construction also means flavour tends to be particularly rich compared to the single mesh options. It is one of the most searched Z Series variants and a good starting point if you are unsure which resistance to choose.
Z0.4Ω Single Mesh Coil (50-60W), Also Known as Z1
The Z0.4Ω coil is the entry-level option in the Z Series range and the most widely available. It was previously referred to as the Z1 coil on older packaging. At 50-60W, it produces a solid DTL vape with good vapour output and a manageable power draw, making it easier on battery life compared to the lower-resistance options. It is a good choice for vapers new to sub-ohm tanks or those who prefer not to run at the highest wattage settings. An XM version and an XM Boost version of the 0.4Ω are also available, both rated at the same 50-60W but with improved mesh construction and longer coil life.
Z0.2Ω Single Mesh Coil (70-80W), Also Known as Z2
The Z0.2Ω coil, previously referred to as the Z2, runs at 70-80W and delivers a warmer, denser vape with notably more vapour production than the Z0.4Ω. It is one of the most popular choices for vapers who use high-VG shortfills and want a powerful, cloud-producing setup. An XM Boost version of the 0.2Ω is available with enhanced mesh and wicking, offering approximately 50-60ml of e-liquid per coil before it needs replacing. Running at these wattages means a high-capacity mod is recommended, ideally one rated at 100W or above such as the Aegis Legend or Z200 kit.
Z0.15Ω Single Mesh Coil (80-90W)
The Z0.15Ω is the highest-wattage option in the standard Z Series range and is designed for vapers who want maximum vapour output and cloud production. At 80-90W, it requires a powerful dual-battery or high-capacity single-cell mod to run at its best. The XM version of the 0.15Ω runs slightly lower at 70-85W and offers an improved mesh structure and better coil longevity compared to the standard version. An XM Boost version is also available, extending coil life further. All three 0.15Ω versions suit high-VG shortfills at low or zero nicotine only.
Standard, XM, and XM Boost: What Is the Difference
The standard Z Series coils use KA1 Kanthal single or dual mesh and represent the original Z coil design. The XM versions have an improved mesh structure with a wider heating surface, producing denser vapour and a fuller flavour profile compared to the standard coils. The XM Boost version is the most recent iteration and claims approximately double the lifespan of the original standard coils, with GeekVape quoting around 50-60ml of e-liquid per coil. All three generations use the same press-fit fitting and are interchangeable across compatible tanks. If you currently use standard Z Series coils, you can switch to XM or XM Boost without any changes to your tank or setup.
Press-Fit Installation
All Z Series coils use a press-fit design, installing from the base of the tank by pushing the coil straight into the tank deck. There is no threading and no need to screw the coil in or out. Two metal alignment tabs on the coil locate into corresponding cut-outs on the base of the tank to ensure correct seating and good electrical contact. Coil changes are quick and clean compared to threaded designs. Before fitting a new coil, add two to three drops of e-liquid onto the cotton wicking ports on the side of the coil, install it, fill the tank, and wait three to five minutes before vaping to prime the cotton fully and avoid a dry first draw.

Compatible Tanks and Kits
The Z Series coils fit a wide range of GeekVape tanks and Aegis Legend kits. The following are confirmed compatible devices.
- GeekVape Zeus Sub-Ohm Tank (original)
- GeekVape Z Sub-Ohm Tank / Z Sub-Ohm Tank 2021 / Z Sub-Ohm SE Tank / Z Sub-Ohm Tank 5
- GeekVape Z Fli Tank / Z Fli 2 Tank
- GeekVape Obelisk Tank / Obelisk 120 Kit
- GeekVape P Sub-Ohm Tank
- GeekVape Aegis Legend Kit (Zeus Edition)
- GeekVape Aegis Legend 2 (L200) Kit
- GeekVape Aegis Legend 3 Kit
- GeekVape Aegis Legend 5 Kit
- GeekVape S100 (Aegis Solo 2)
- GeekVape Max100 (Aegis Max 2)
- GeekVape T200 (Aegis Touch) Kit
- GeekVape Z200 Kit
- GeekVape AEGIS X Kit (Zeus Edition only)
Note: the Z0.25Ω dual mesh coil is not compatible with the P Sub-Ohm Tank. If you have a P Tank, use the Z0.4Ω, Z0.2Ω, or Z0.15Ω options instead. The Z Max Tank takes M Series coils, not Z Series. The Z Nano 2 Tank takes B Series coils, not Z Series.
E-Liquid Recommendations
All Z Series coils are sub-ohm DTL coils and require high-VG e-liquid to perform correctly. A minimum of 70% VG is recommended, with 70/30 or 80/20 blends working best across the full range. Shortfill e-liquids with a nic shot added are the most popular choice. These coils are not suitable for use with 50/50 e-liquids, as the thinner PG-heavy blend is too runny for the wicking system and can cause flooding, leaking, and spitting. Nic salts are also not recommended, particularly at the lower resistances that run above 60W. For best coil life, stay within the recommended wattage range for the variant you are using and prime each coil fully before the first draw.
