The VOOPOO Argus P2 is a compact slab-style MTL and RDTL pod kit with a futuristic, industrial aesthetic. It measures 78mm x 48.5mm x 17.5mm - roughly the size of a slim smartphone - and uses a rectangular form factor rather than the stick shape of the Argus G range. It houses a 1100mAh built-in battery, a GENE.AI chipset with two main output modes (Power Mode and Shift Mode), a 0.54-inch OLED display, and five individually controllable RGB LED lights visible through a clear panel on the front of the device.

Two Argus Top Fill pod cartridges are included - a 0.4 ohm for RDTL vaping and a 0.7 ohm for MTL - both holding 2ml of e-liquid in line with UK TPD regulations. The Argus P2 is draw-activated only and is fully compatible with the complete range of Argus pods and Argus ITO replaceable coil pods.

Design and Form Factor

The Argus P2 has a distinctly different shape to the Argus G series. Where the G2 and G3 are slim stick-style devices, the P2 is a short, wide slab at 78mm tall and 48.5mm wide. This makes it feel more like a lighter or a flat-pack device in the hand rather than a traditional vape pen. The casing is zinc alloy and polycarbonate, with approximately 75% of the exterior being metal. The clear polycarbonate section on the front of the device shows through to the internal circuit board and the five RGB LED lights, giving it a tech-inspired look that sets it apart from most other pod kits at this price point. The raised "ARGUS" logo is finished in a reflective holographic foil that changes appearance as you tilt the device. Build quality is solid, and the weight sits around 75g with a pod installed.

1100mAh Battery and Passthrough Charging

The 1100mAh battery is a significant step up from the 800mAh battery in the Argus P1. At moderate wattages in NOR mode, most vapers can expect one full day of use between charges. The USB-C charging port is located on the base of the device and charges at 5V/2A, which brings the battery from flat to full in approximately 35-37 minutes. The charging display on the OLED screen shows the time remaining in minutes, which is a useful practical touch. The Argus P2 also supports passthrough charging, meaning you can continue vaping while the device is plugged in - a feature the Argus P1 did not have.

Power Mode and Shift Mode Explained

The GENE.AI chipset gives the Argus P2 two distinct approaches to power output, selectable through the five-click menu. Power Mode allows you to set the exact wattage yourself, from 5W up to 30W, in fine increments. The chipset caps the maximum wattage at the safe upper limit for the pod that is fitted, so it is not possible to accidentally burn a coil by overpowering it. Shift Mode is the default when you first use the device, and offers three preset power levels without needing to select a specific wattage. Within Shift Mode, SPT (Sport) runs the coil at or near its maximum rated wattage for the fullest-bodied, warmest draw.

NOR (Normal) sets an optimal balanced wattage that VOOPOO suggests as the best starting point for most vapers - the device ships in NOR mode. ECO reduces the wattage to extend both battery life and e-liquid consumption, making it useful when you cannot charge for an extended period. To cycle through the three Shift Mode presets, press the button three times. To switch between Power Mode and Shift Mode, press the button five times to access the menu, then navigate to the Shift option.

OLED Display and Five RGB LED Lights

The 0.54-inch OLED display is set behind the clear panel on the front of the device and shows battery percentage, current wattage or shift mode level, coil resistance and a puff counter. The display is black and white, compact, and legible in most lighting conditions. Below the screen, five rectangular RGB LED lights are visible through the clear polycarbonate section. These can be set to one of two colour cycling themes, or turned off entirely to conserve battery. To change the LED setting, hold the button down and release when the desired mode appears. The ability to turn the LEDs off is particularly useful for maximising battery life in ECO mode.

Draw-Activated Only - No Lock Function

The Argus P2 is draw-activated only. The button on the top of the device is used solely for navigation - changing modes, accessing the menu and controlling the LEDs - and does not fire the device. Unlike the Argus G2 and G3, the P2 does not have a lock function for the button. This means that if you carry the device in a pocket or bag, pressing the button accidentally can change the mode or access the menu. The simplest way to avoid this is to power the device off before putting it in a bag, which is done through the five-click menu. The draw-activation sensor is reliable and fires immediately on inhalation.

How to Use the Button and Menu

Five quick presses of the top button turn the device on or off. Once the device is on, three quick presses cycle through the Shift Mode presets (SPT → NOR → ECO) without entering the full menu. Five presses open the main menu, from which you can switch between Shift Mode and Power Mode, reset the puff counter, or power the device off. In Power Mode, three presses adjust the wattage in increments. To change the LED setting, hold the button down and release when the preferred LED mode is shown on the screen.

Argus Top Fill Pod Cartridges and iCOSM CODE

The two pods included in the kit each hold 2ml of e-liquid and use VOOPOO's iCOSM CODE flavour technology, which integrates a vertical mesh heating element for more even heat distribution and faster saturation than a standard horizontal coil. VOOPOO rates these pods for up to 90ml of e-liquid and up to 30 days of use before the coil quality noticeably declines. The fill port is a side-mounted rubber plug that can be accessed without removing the pod from the device, although most reviewers suggest removing the pod for refilling as access is easier. VOOPOO recommends keeping the pod at least two-thirds full to prevent the coil running dry. The 0.4 ohm pod is best suited to RDTL vaping at 18-30W, working well with higher-VG freebase e-liquids or 10mg nicotine salts. The 0.7 ohm pod covers MTL vaping at 14-18W and suits 50/50 freebase e-liquids or nicotine salts up to 20mg. The pods are tinted rather than clear, which makes it more difficult to see the e-liquid level without using a light source - something worth knowing before you first use them.

Adjustable Airflow and Argus Pod Compatibility

The airflow slider on the side of the device runs between a tight MTL draw and a more open RDTL pull. The slider is firm enough to hold its position without drifting. In addition to the two pods supplied, the Argus P2 is compatible with all pods across the Argus range - including older Argus side-fill pods with 0.7 ohm and 1.2 ohm built-in coils, the Argus Top Fill V2 1.0 ohm pod sold separately, and Argus ITO empty pods with VOOPOO's replaceable ITO coils. The ITO pod system lets you swap the coil independently, covering resistances from 0.6 ohm to 1.2 ohm. All Argus pods are cross-compatible with the Argus P1, P2, G, G2 and G3 devices.
