VOOPOO Argus G3 Vape Kit

The VOOPOO Argus G3 is a slim, draw-activated MTL and RDTL pod kit built around a 1500mAh battery and VOOPOO's GENE.AI 2.0 chipset. It covers a 5-30W variable output range and fits the same compact form factor as the Argus G and Argus G2, measuring 120mm x 26.4mm x 15.1mm and weighing 65g.

1500mAh Built-In Battery

The Argus G3 carries a 1500mAh integrated battery - a 50% increase over the 1000mAh battery in the Argus G2. At moderate wattages with the 0.7 ohm pod, most vapers can expect one to two full days of use between charges. The USB-C port is located at the base of the device and charges at 5V/2A, bringing the battery from flat to full in around 45 minutes. The charging display shows battery percentage and a visual charge indicator on screen; press the side button once to wake the screen and check progress while the device is charging.

5-30W Variable Output

Output is adjustable between 5W and 30W in 1W steps. The GENE.AI 2.0 chipset detects the resistance of the fitted pod when it is inserted and sets a starting wattage within the safe operating range for that coil. The recommended ranges for each pod type are as follows: the 0.4 ohm Top Fill V2 pod is rated for 18-30W; the 0.7 ohm Top Fill V2 pod runs at 14-18W; a separately available 0.7 ohm side-fill pod also runs at 14-18W; the 1.0 ohm Top Fill pod covers 10-14W; and the 1.2 ohm Top Fill pod covers 8-12W. To adjust wattage manually, press the side button three times.

GENE.AI 2.0 Chipset

The GENE.AI 2.0 chipset handles pod detection, power regulation and safety management. When a pod is inserted, the screen displays the coil resistance and the recommended minimum and maximum wattage for that pod before switching to the main display. Safety features include an eight-second puff cut-off, short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, low battery warning and over-current protection. The chipset also supports firmware updates via the USB-C cable and the VOOPOO website, so software improvements can be applied without needing to replace the device.

Draw-Activated Only - No Fire Button

Unlike the Argus G2, which could be fired with either a button press or an auto-draw, the Argus G3 is draw-activated only. There is no fire button. All device navigation - including switching themes, adjusting wattage, accessing the menu and locking the device - is handled through the single side button. This makes the G3 simpler to use day to day and eliminates accidental button-firing in a pocket, but it does mean you cannot fire the device manually if the draw sensor does not register.

How to Use the Side Button and Menu

Three quick presses of the side button power the device on. Once on, the button controls all functions. Two presses cycle between the three display themes (Smart, Sport and Music). Three presses adjust the wattage, which increases in 1W increments and loops from 30W back to 5W. Five presses open the function menu, from which you can power the device off, reset the puff counter, lock the side button, or exit the menu. To select a menu option, press the button to highlight it and hold to confirm. Holding the button at any time turns the screen on or off without changing any other settings. To unlock the side button, press five times to re-enter the menu and select unlock - the device continues to draw-activate even when the button is locked.

0.96" TFT Colour Screen and Three Display Themes

The 0.96-inch TFT colour screen is set within a thin metal bezel on the front of the device and displays wattage, battery percentage, coil resistance, puff counter, current theme, and lock status. On all colours except Diamond White and Diamond Pink, the bezel has a textured chain-link finish. On Diamond White and Diamond Pink, the bezel is set with rhinestone studs, which gives those two variants a distinctly different look from the rest of the range. The three display themes - Smart, Sport and Music - change the on-screen animations and colour scheme. These are cosmetic options only and have no effect on power output or performance; they are purely for personalisation. The screen turns off after a period of inactivity and can be woken by pressing the side button once.

iCOSM Code 2.0 and Argus Top Fill V2 Pods

The two pods included in the kit use VOOPOO's new iCOSM Code 2.0 technology, which marks a significant upgrade over the first-generation Argus Top Fill pods. The main changes are the use of aerospace-grade golden cotton and a fully-wrapped copper sleeve around the coil. The golden cotton has a heat tolerance of up to 260°C compared to around 150°C for standard cotton, which slows the rate at which the coil degrades. The copper liquid-seal sleeve locks e-liquid against 99% of the coil's internal surface area, improving saturation consistency and reducing the chance of dry hits. VOOPOO's rated coil lifespan is up to 100ml of e-liquid and 30-day leak protection. Actual longevity varies depending on the e-liquid used and vaping style, but independent reviewers have broadly confirmed the pods last considerably longer than most competing MTL pods. Both pods refill through a side port sealed with a rubber plug; lift the plug with a fingernail to access the fill port, then press it firmly back down to seal. For best results, half-fill the pod first to allow trapped air under the coil to clear before topping up fully.

Adjustable Airflow

A stepless airflow slider on one side of the device allows you to adjust the draw resistance between a loose RDTL pull and a tighter MTL feel. The slider runs the full useful range from very open to very closed, and reviewers have noted it has a smooth, firm action that holds its position reliably without shifting in a pocket or bag. Using the 0.4 ohm pod with a more open airflow setting produces a warm, vapour-heavy draw well suited to freebase e-liquids; tightening the airflow on the 0.7 ohm pod brings the draw closer to the feel of a cigarette, which suits nicotine salts.

Wide Pod Compatibility

In addition to the two Argus Top Fill V2 cartridges included, the Argus G3 is compatible with the full range of Argus pods. This includes older Argus 2ml side-fill pods with 0.7 ohm and 1.2 ohm built-in coils, the Argus Top Fill V2 1.0 ohm pod sold separately, and Argus ITO empty pods that accept VOOPOO's replaceable ITO coils. The ITO coil system allows you to swap out just the coil rather than the entire pod, covering resistances from 0.6 ohm to 1.2 ohm. All Argus pods are cross-compatible across the Argus G, G2 and G3 devices.

VOOPOO Argus G2 vs G3 - What's Different

The Argus G3 is a direct upgrade from the Argus G2 in some respects and a trade-off in others. The battery has increased from 1000mAh to 1500mAh, which is the most meaningful upgrade. The G3 also introduces the new iCOSM 2.0 pods with improved coil longevity and leak resistance. The display themes are new, replacing the G2's practical Smart/Super/Eco power modes - it is worth noting that on the G3 the themes are cosmetic only and do not change how power is delivered, whereas the G2's three modes actively altered the wattage behaviour. The G3 removes the dual activation (button firing is gone, auto-draw only), removes the RGB LED strip lights on either side of the screen, and removes the haptic feedback vibration motor. The charging port has moved from the side (as on the G2) to the base of the device. If the LED light strips and the vibration feedback were features you valued on the G2, the G3 does not have them. If battery life is the priority, the G3's 1500mAh is a substantial improvement.
