1800mAh Built-In Battery

The Argus E40 houses one of the largest built-in batteries found in a pod kit at this form factor, with a 1800mAh capacity that comfortably covers a full day of vaping for most users. At the 0.6 ohm pod's optimal wattage range, the battery will typically last well into a second day before needing a charge. When it does run low, the 5V/2A USB-C fast charging brings it back up to full in roughly 60 to 90 minutes. The USB-C port is located on the base of the device, and the rubberised base section keeps the kit stable and protected when resting on a flat surface.

5-40W Variable Output

Output is fully adjustable from 5W to 40W, giving you precise control over the warmth and intensity of your vape. Three clicks of the fire button cycles through the wattage adjustment, and the current setting is shown clearly on the OLED screen. The 0.3 ohm pod performs best in the 32-40W range, while the 0.6 ohm pod suits 20-30W for a balanced RDL draw. The GENE.AI 2.0 chipset also auto-detects the resistance of whichever pod is inserted and recommends a starting wattage, which makes it easy to get up and running without needing to consult the manual.

GENE.AI 2.0 Chipset

The Argus E40 is powered by VOOPOO's GENE.AI 2.0 chipset, which handles both power delivery and coil detection. It fires almost instantly on both button and auto-draw, with no noticeable lag between inhaling and vapour production. The chipset also incorporates a full suite of safety protections, including an eight-second cut-off, short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, low battery protection and over-current output protection. These are standard for a device at this wattage level and provide reassurance for everyday use.

Dual Activation: Fire Button and Auto-Draw

The Argus E40 can be fired either by pressing the single fire button on the side or by inhaling directly, with the auto-draw sensor activating the device as soon as you draw on the mouthpiece. The auto-draw is responsive and well-calibrated at all wattage levels. If you prefer button-only firing, the device can be locked to disable auto-draw through the menu. The fire button also doubles as the navigation control for adjusting wattage and accessing the device settings, which keeps the control layout simple.

Stepless Airflow Control

A side-mounted stepless airflow slider gives you continuous adjustment between a tighter restricted DTL draw and a fully open DTL pull. There are no fixed click stops, so you can dial the airflow to exactly the position that suits you. The slider has a cyclops-style oval opening for the main DTL airflow, plus a smaller aperture for tighter draws. Closing the airflow down significantly can produce an MTL-style draw, though the Argus E40 is best suited to RDL and DTL vapers. For a looser, more open draw, use the 0.3 ohm pod with the airflow fully open.

0.42" OLED Display Screen

The OLED screen on the front of the Argus E40 displays battery percentage, set wattage, coil resistance in ohms and a five-digit puff counter. It also shows a lock or unlock symbol indicating the current fire button status. The screen is bright enough for indoor use, though it can be harder to read in direct sunlight. A single press of the fire button wakes the display, and five clicks opens the settings menu where you can adjust wattage, lock the device or review usage data.

Colour-Coded LED Battery Indicator

Flanking the OLED screen on both sides are LED strips that change colour based on your remaining battery level. Green indicates a charge of 60-100%, blue covers 20-60%, and red signals that the battery is below 20% and will need charging soon. This means you can check your approximate battery level at a glance without needing to read the screen, which is useful when vaping on the go. The LED indicator and screen work independently, so you can turn the screen off to save battery while still having the colour indicator active.

Two 2ml Argus E40 Cartridges Included

The kit comes with a 0.3 ohm Argus E40 cartridge pre-installed and a 0.6 ohm cartridge in the box. Both hold 2ml of e-liquid in line with UK TPD regulations and feature a lightly tinted body that makes it possible to see your e-liquid level without removing the pod. Refilling is done by removing the pod from the device and opening the large rubber hatch at the base of the cartridge. The pods connect to the device via four strong magnets and sit with no wobble once attached. Both pods use built-in PnP X coils, so when the coil is spent, the whole cartridge is replaced.

PnP X Atomisation Technology

The coils inside the Argus E40 cartridges use VOOPOO's PnP X platform, which integrates a vertical honeycomb mesh heating element with thermo-stable cotton wicking. This combination delivers even heat distribution across the coil surface and prevents the wicking material from degrading quickly. VOOPOO state that PnP X coils are rated to last up to 100ml of e-liquid before performance begins to drop, which is significantly longer than most standard pod coils. The four-layer leakage-resistant design inside the cartridge also means the pods are reliable to carry throughout the day without concern about leaks.

Compatible with Argus PnP X Empty Pod

In addition to the two fixed-coil cartridges included in the kit, the Argus E40 is compatible with the Argus PnP X empty pod, which is sold separately. This empty pod accepts the full range of PnP X replacement coils in 0.3, 0.45 and 0.6 ohm resistances, giving you more flexibility over your coil choice and allowing you to replace the coil independently rather than the entire pod. If you already use PnP X coils in another VOOPOO device, those same coils will work here. The minimum compatible resistance for the Argus E40 is 0.3 ohm, so the 0.15 ohm PnP X coil is not compatible with this device.

USB-C Fast Charging

The Argus E40 charges via USB-C at 5V/2A, the same standard used by most modern phones and tablets. A USB-C cable is included in the box. The charging port sits on the base of the device, which means the kit is laid on its side or stood upright using the rubberised base when charging. There is no passthrough vaping on this device, so it is worth keeping an eye on the battery level to avoid interruptions.
