Because no one wants cooked custard vape
Let’s face it — British heatwaves might not come often, but when they do… they really do. Suddenly your car becomes an oven, your jeans are a bad idea, and your e-liquid starts behaving like it’s on a sunbed.
If you've ever pulled a sticky, warm bottle of vape juice out of your bag and thought, "Hmm, that doesn’t smell quite right," — you're not alone.
Hot weather can mess with the quality of your juice, your nic strength, and even how your coils perform. So, let’s break down how to store your e-liquid properly during a heatwave (and what to avoid unless you want to vape regret).
☀️ Why Heat is the Enemy of E-Liquid
E-liquids are made of:
- PG (propylene glycol)
- VG (vegetable glycerine)
- Flavourings
- Nicotine (optional)
Each of those ingredients can break down or change when exposed to high heat — especially nicotine, which is sensitive to light and temperature. If stored badly, your e-liquid might:
- Darken in colour
- Lose flavour
- Thin out or separate
- Taste burnt, even in a fresh coil
- Degrade in nicotine strength
A customer once left their favourite menthol juice on the dashboard of their car. By the time they found it, it looked like black tea and tasted like burnt mint syrup. Don’t be that vaper.
🔒 5 Tips to Store Your E-Liquid Like a Pro (Even in a Heatwave)
1. Keep It Cool — But Not Freezing
Store your e-liquid somewhere cool, dark, and dry.
The back of a cupboard, a drawer, or a shaded shelf will do nicely.
✅ Ideal temperature: 10°C to 22°C
❌ Avoid: window sills, cars, hot conservatories, sunny kitchen counters
If you're going away, consider storing your juice in a small makeup bag or lunchbox-style cooler pouch — sounds daft, works like a charm.
2. Keep It Out of Direct Sunlight
Sunlight + vape juice = flavour fade + nicotine breakdown.
Even clear bottles can suffer, but coloured ones aren’t immune either.
A dark box or pouch is all you need to shield your stash.
Bonus tip: If your bottle’s turned orange or brown, it’s likely been heat-damaged — especially if it used to be clear.
3. Store Bottles Upright and Tightly Sealed
Hot weather can cause bottles to expand slightly, especially if air gets in. Keep your bottles upright and closed tightly to prevent:
- Leakage
- Oxidation
- Loss of flavour or nic strength
And if you’re using shortfills, make sure the nic shot is fully mixed in before storing.
4. Only Carry What You’ll Use
Heading to a festival or long day out? Only bring what you’ll realistically vape.
Leave your stash at home in a safe spot.
In a pinch, wrap your juice in a microfibre cloth or put it in a shaded section of your bag. A little insulation goes a long way.
5. Watch Out for Your Devices Too
It’s not just the juice that suffers in heat — your vape device can struggle too:
- Batteries hate overheating (it’s dangerous)
- Coils can flood if juice thins out in high temps
- Sticky buttons? That’s heat melt in action
Try to keep your vape out of the sun and give it a break if it starts feeling hot in your hand.
Parting Puffs
Summer’s great for a lot of things — BBQs, holidays, those weirdly long sunsets — but it’s not your e-liquid’s best mate. With a few simple steps, though, you can keep your juice tasting fresh, your vape kit running smooth, and your flavour game strong.
And if your bottle has gone weird? Don’t chance it. Pop in and we’ll help you replace it with something fresher — and maybe even better.
