What is CBD oil?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is an organic compound extracted from Cannabis or Marijuana plants that are specifically bred to produce only high levels of the non-psychoactive element. This is then distilled and infused into edible oil and results in an orally ingested natural remedy such as these CBD oils for sale here.
What does Psychoactive mean?
Psychoactive according to Wikipedia, means something that can alter the brain and nervous system function, generally temporarily. The part of the Cannabis plant which is considered psychoactive is THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol and is the reason why THC and Cannabis, in general, are classed as prohibited drugs.
In the UK there is a legal limit to the amount of THC that can be present in a product - 0.2%, and by adhering to this as well as producing Cannabis that is deficient in THC, we get legal CBD oils.
Is CBD Oil Safe?
While studies on the full effects of CBD oils and tinctures need more time to add rigour to what we can say, according to the Nova Institute in Hurth, Germany, the safety profile of CBD oil is described as favourable.
What does CBD oil do?
A famous (by now ) report on Cannabis oil from Harvard discusses in a lot more detail what the potential therapeutic benefits of CBD oils are. Some of these suggested benefits from anecdotal evidence include:
- Anxiety Relief
- Pain Relief
- Mood Enhancement
- Insomnia Treatment
There are potentially many more CBD benefits, but as the report from Harvard University indicates, a lot of this still needs more research before they could be clinically proven options.
